    Estimation of outages and protection of:
    1. Overhead power transmission lines,
    2. Overhead power distribution lines,

    4. Outdoor substations and switchyards.

    1. Breakdown of air gaps by lightning overvoltages,
    2. Transient voltage withstand level of power semiconductor devices, and
    3. Impulse ground impedances.
  2. Estimation and Reduction of Electromagnetic Fields of Overhead Electric Power Lines under Imperfect Earth
    1. Electric fields,
    2. Magnetic fields, and
    3. Radio interference fields.
  3. Electrical Design of Compact High-Voltage Overhead Power Lines
    1. Conductor-surface voltage gradients,
    2. Electromagnetic fields,
    3. Switching-surge withstand capability,
    4. Electrostatic and magnetic line unbalances, and
    5. Optimization of line configuration.
  4. Effects of Soil Electrical Parameters on Power System Operation
    1. Frequency domain (power frequency and its harmonics, and radio frequencies), and
